Restaurants, Cafes, and Bars
There are many places in Vieques to "eat, drink, and be
merry". It is quite possibly the single most important
part of your Vieques vacation, besides the days at the beach.
There is all manner of repast available from
gourmet faire to BBQ, fried chicken to Lechón Asado, pizza to
burgers. But seafood is king. After all, you are on an island. And,
in Puerto Rico, pork "is" THE white meat.
There is also great local food. Some of this is
found on the side of the road, served on a paper plate or napkin,
but much is sit-down. There is also the take-out variety. Most
places do eat-in and take-out, if you want. Food names of papas
rellenos, tostones, pinchos, canoes, ensalada de pulpo, carrucho,
plantainos maduros, camarrones a la criolla, pasteles, pastelone,
fricase de cabro, and pastelillos will tell you there are too few
days in your vacation to try just the local food. And, the fish is
fresh off the boats.
